Description:
The shoulder heights reaches from 1,1m of females to 1,2 m of male Oryx. Females can reach a weight up to 210 kg, male can get a weight up to 240 kg.
The Oryx has black bands down the mid-back, throat, lower flanks, upper parts and front of the lower parts of the limb. It has got a Black patch on top of the hindquarters . The Oryxs tail is black with tuft of long black and white hair. Its face is marked with white and black stripes.
Both sexes have rounded horn- rising vertically and slightly back which are righted up to two-third of their total length.
Social Behavior from Oryx:
Oryx live in large herds, during drought they live in smaller herds. The herds are mixed and contain females with their calf and some bulls. The bulls are territorial and fight with intruders. Often they injure their opponent or even kill it.
Oryx do not jump over fences, they crawl under them. A loud snorting is their warning call. Oryx prefer open and arid country.
