Shiny reddish coats and long slender legs

Flanks –pale fawn tinged reddish

Impala under part - pure white

White patches above the eyes

White throats
-
Under part of the tail is white

Ears are white inside with black tips

Only Impala males have horns

Strongly ridged for two – thirds of the horn

Iyre – shaped
Social Behavior:
-
Herds -20 head or larger
-
Males –territorial only during rut
-
Mark territory with facial and forehead rubbing on grasses and twigs

Impala defend their territory by vocalizing, chasing and other displays
-
Bachelor herds of adult and juvenile males
-
When disturbed – herds break up jumping over bushes and imaginary objects
-
Jumps in 10-12 meters bounds
